SELECTED PRESS REVIEWS
“This is by far, the best guitar duo record that I have heard in a while. Too marvelous for words...” - Downtown Music Gallery
“...stream of consciousness music is rarely as gripping and amusing as what can be heard on The Coincidence Masters..." improvisation beyond the free – extemporaneous and distilled to its rawest core…Fully improvised, stream of consciousness music is rarely as gripping and amusing as what can be heard on The Coincidence Masters." - The Quietus
- The Vinyl District: "The Coincidence Masters is a brilliant, unpredictable work highly recommended for adventurous listeners, but the lack of abrasiveness and sense of poise should make it a fine point of entry for those seeking an introduction to free improvisation."

ABOUT THE ALBUM
The Coincidence Masters is the first recording by two outstanding and iconoclastic improvising musicians, streaming their unconsciousness while caressing –– and at times bashing –– their guitars.
Eyal Maoz is a guitarist and bandleader who has recorded for Ayler Records and Tzadik Records as a member of John Zorn's Abraxas. Eugene Chadbourne has also worked with Zorn, as well as a panoply of avant garde luminaries like Fred Frith, Elliott Sharp, and Henry Kaiser.
A rare opportunity to create an album arose during Chadbourne's 2022 visit to New York City where he and Maoz sat down for a fortuitous recording session where nothing was planned and everything was recorded without amps, making each listening experience as pristine as if it were the first time the album has ever been played through speakers.
Maoz has long been a fan of Chadbourne, admiring his direct, no-consequences approach to creating sound. On this recording, Maoz is experimenting with a new set of pedals, while Eugene presents an old-school lesson in genius through the simplicity of it all, using mostly hands and sticks.
At times, a vague sense of a constant beat is present, making this the go-to album for those seeking easy listening insanity. Fans of any of the aforementioned artists should take note, as well as steel-string sonic adventurers like Mary Halvorson, Ava Mendoza, and Marc Ribot.
